The McCain rollercoaster

Although a deal on the government bailout of financial institutions is not close -- and is in fact nowhere near close --John McCain will be participating in tonight's presidential debate at Ole Miss. This after he said the other day that he was suspending his campaign to help solve the crisis.

Huh?

What's going on with this guy? Do we really want or need a president who is all over the place emotionally and intellectually? First, there was no crisis ("the fundamentals of our economy are strong") ... then the sky is falling.

He bailed on David Letterman to "rush" back to Washington, as if he alone could steer this economic ship through the narrow straits of disaster and despair ... then took about 22 hours to get there, after first giving an interview to Katie Couric and then spending the night in New York. When he finally got to Washington, he barely said anything in the meetings and provided no real leadership at all. For that he needed to suspend his campaign?

McCain is an egomaniac and a grandstanding lunatic.
