John McCain's Radical Approach to Health Care

Letter from Elizabeth Edwards of the Center for American Progress:

Friends,

As you know, I’ve been working with the Center for American Progress Action Fund to keep health care reform front and center in this critical public debate.

Our expert research team has developed hard-hitting and in-depth analysis, so when I’m out there fighting for progressive health care reform, I’m armed with the facts.

We have exposed many serious problems with the radical McCain-Palin health care plan, including:

* Americans with employer-provided health care would see their benefits taxed for the first time in history.

* The McCain plan would unravel the employer-based health care system, leaving 56 million Americans with chronic diseases most at risk of losing their coverage.

* The McCain-Palin plan would require deep cuts in Medicare and Medicaid benefits.

Our work is having a huge impact. It has been cited in TV ads and mailers by the Obama-Biden campaign, AFSCME, the AFL-CIO and others. Now, the McCain-Palin campaign is attempting to defend their plan against our analysis, but their numbers just don’t add up.

We will continue to arm you with the facts. Visit the Health Care section on our blog, the Wonk Room, for the very latest. Thanks for working with us in this fight for progressive change.
